Understanding Workers

As businesses grow and scale, focus on productivity and results understandably becomes the main focus. But it often goes amiss that it is the workers who are the ones that make productivity possible. The new business leaders are getting smarter and realising that workers need to be motivated to achieve their best results, but there are more ways to incentivize performance than a salary raise.

What do workers really want?

We think we know, but until we ask, we really have no idea.

Engaging purposeful work

We've all been in meetings where there was nothing relevant to us or gone through the motions. the most important thing in a workplace is that people think that they are contributing towards a purpose that they are a part of.

Recognising contributions

As people spend most of their time working, it only makes sense that they want to be recognised, for doing their jobs.

Each person has a talent, but is that talent being utilised and seen by others? How is their contribution recognised?

being transparent

There is nothing more demoralising for a worker than there being preferential treatment in the workplace when it comes to performance. Making sure that everyone understands what the key performance indicators are is essential. to a harmonious environment.

Respect and Loyalty

The bare minimum that a worker expects is to be respected in their workplace, but with an increasingly diverse society it is harder to set a standard for all.

This is why the new standard is empathy. Listening to workers and understanding their problems shows that we are with them every step of the way. This in turn is what builds loyalty.

Having a plan

The lifespan of a worker is essential. Some come and go, others will stay for many years and keep on building the foundation of the business.

If a company has built this awareness into their structure they will always be ready to thrive rather than being worried about surviving.

Assets

What we need to understand is that workers are the greatest asset of the company, they are not just part of the expenses.

It is thanks to them that everything gets done. It is thanks to them that the company will sink or swim. So it is essential that we value them as that which they are.

Solving problems

My job is to find cohesion within the chaos at the workplace. I talk to the people involved, I ask them what their problems, their needs, their concerns, their feelings and thoughts are about their work.

I endeavour to find solutions with them so they can contribute more than before, more consistently and most importantly, more willingly.

Want to increase your productivity and make workers happy?

Listening to the workers will make them part of the process. Making them participants, empowers them to want to do well. A team is only as good as the added sum of its components. But what if they were all adding to each other? Find out how to create a high performance team, where everyone pulls in the same direction.
